Through The Years…

Carr’s Cleaners first opened at 270 W. Main St. in 1945, owned and operated by the Carr Family.

Harry Boucher and his family purchased the business in 1979.

Prior owner Blanch Carr grew restless in retirement and returned to work for the Boucher family.

A sandblasted building and new signage brought a new look to the Turlock landmark.

An updated front office brought a fresh look to the business.

Presser Marie Gomes spent many years working for the Boucher family.

Paul Chismar later joined the Carr’s team as cleaner/spotter and presser.

Owner Harry Boucher never tired of getting his hands dirty working on equipment.

Carr’s first expansion was in the Geer Garden’s shopping center.

In 1986 the Boucher’s moved their production facility to its current location at 500 E. Main St. being the first to offer drive-through service.

Even Harry’s brother, Ken Boucher of Boucher Shoe’s, pitched in for the big move.

After the success of the drive through at the E. Main location, Harry moved the Geer location to the standalone building in the Geer Garden’s shopping center.

Santa’s elves would show up at Christmas when friend, neighbor and V.P. of California State University, Stanislaus, Dr. Mark Perkins, would join Harry and bring Christmas cheer to everyone they came into contact with.

Carr’s later added free pickup & delivery routes from Atwater to Modesto.
